A dog is a fun and active creature. He’ll do whatever it takes to win your attention—chase you wherever you go or jump at you when he sees you approaching. But if your canine buddy is a 6-foot Great Dane that is scared of almost everything, what do you do when he cowers from everything?
Despite his towering size, one Great Dane named Presley is scared of everything, from plastic bags to the smallest Highland terriers.
His owner, Sian Barrett, explained, “Presley is definitely a real-life Scooby Doo. He is afraid of everything. He is always getting scared off by smaller dogs and I’ve had to start hiding the plastic bags from him because he’s afraid.”
“There was a time recently I was walking Presley in the park and he got scared off by a West Highland terrier, which is tiny compared to him,” she recalled. “Presley wouldn’t come back out until the other dog had gone and he knew he was safe. His temper doesn’t match his size at all—he’s 38 inches at the shoulder but scared of anything.”
Sian is convinced that Presley is a timid dog because she has been there for him since birth and that he only becomes comfortable if she is around. As he grew, she noticed how much he hates some things like the sound of crumpling a plastic bag. Because she doesn’t want to scare him with its sound, she has to get out of the room.
Sian guaranteed that despite his size, Presley never scares people. He even has his own way of comforting kids.
“We were out on a walk one time when we met a woman with her crying child. The kid was screaming, and Presley didn’t like the noise at first, he was a bit scared; but as soon as the girl walked over to him, she just stopped crying immediately,” she shared.
In order to stop him from feeling scared during certain situations, Presley always carries with him a comfort cushion, which he bites around his mouth.
“Presley will follow me from room to room about the house and even has a cry when I go upstairs to bed,” she added. “As well as being scared of everything like Scooby Doo is, Presley is pretty dopey too. Presley would definitely try and get out of chasing any of the ghosts in the cartoons. He is a wimp.”
