This beautiful island is owned by Sir Richard Branson, the chief of Virgin Group of Companies. Ever famous for his business acumen, Sir Richard offers his private island for rent. The island can accommodate up to 28 guests. If you can afford the $54,500 per night rental fee, then Necker Island is yours for the taking.
2. Musha Cay, Exuma Cays, Bahamas
David Copperfield owned four islands in the Bahamas but only Musha Cay serves as a private resort. The remaining tree islands are just there to make sure that the famous magician can have a very private resort. He paid a total of $50,000,000 for the islands. If you wish to visit Musha Cay for a day, you better have $37,000 at your disposal. The private resort which can only serve 12 guests is fully equipped with the latest amnesties such as WiFi, air-conditioning and butler services.
3. White Bay Cay, Exuma Cays, Bahamas
Director and producer Tyler Perry made his second island purchase in the Bahamas. The 25-acre White Bay Cay is still in development. Reports say that the director is involved in building a 14,000-square-foot Balinese-style home and five or six guest bungalows. We’ll wait how White Bay Cay will look like after Mr. Perry has finished developing the private island.
4. Blackadore Caye, Belize
In 2005, Hollywood A-lister Leonardo Di Carprio paid $1.75 million to own the 104-acre Belizian Island named Blackadore Caye. The beautiful island is located near the Great Barrier Reef. The environmentally-inclined actor is in talks with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts to create a green luxury hotel on his island.
5. Little Halls Pond Cay, Bahamas
While filming “Pirates of the Caribbean” in Little Halls Pond Cay, Johnny Depp fell in love with the island. Depp love the island enough that the actor paid $3.6 million to the island his own. The islands is one of the most scenic in the Bahamas with six untouched white sand beaches which the actor named after the members of his family. The island also has a body of water named “Heath’s Place” after the late actor Heath Ledger. The homes in the island are all solar-powered and the Depp family uses a fleet of golf carts for transportation.

6. Goat Cay, Exuma Cays, Bahamas
Country music biggest couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill purchased their own island. The couple bought a scenic and fully developed island in Exuma Cays, Bahamas. Although it is not known how much they paid for it, the 17 acres island is said to have a lavish 4-bedroom, 15,000-square-foot, tropical plantation-style home.
7. Ile Gagnon, Quebec, Canada
Taking a break from the Bahamas, let’s go to Canada. Singer Celine Dion earned boatloads of money singing hits after hits to be able to buy her own private island in her home province in Quebec. The island lies in the Iles River and it houses the singer’s a large French-style mansion.
8. Leaf Cay, Exuma Cays, Bahamas
For $8.5 million, actor Nicholas Cage purchased his second private island in the Bahamas. It is located near Little Halls Pond Cay and Goat Cay, the island houses buildings including luxury hotels. Leaf Cay also has an airstrip and a marina.
9. Rooster Cay, Bahamas
The island is very close to Nassua, the capital of the Bahamas. Despite of that, actor Eddie Murphy, who paid $15 million for the island, has not yet develop Rooster Cay. It is still unknown what the Hollywood funny man has planned for his private getaway island.
10. Mago Island, Fiji
In 2005, Mel Gibson paid $15 million for Mago Island. The island is one of the largest in the South Pacific. Gibson has no plans to develop his island into a luxury resort, he is said to be satisfied with the island’s natural feel.

11. Bonds Cay, Bahamas
For $16 million, Shakira, Roger Waters and Alejandro Sanz, now owns Bonds Cay in the Bahamas. Housing luxury hotels and condos, the trio still plans to add private beaches, art galleries and an 18-hole golf course to the 700-acre island.
12. Abramovich Island, St. Barts
One of the richest men in the world, Roman Abramovich paid for an astonishing $90 million for an island in St. Barts. The Russian oligarch built a 70-acre estate in the island. The billionaire also has tennis courts, swimming pools and many more in his private island retreat.
13. Lanai, Hawaii
Larry Ellison is a billionaire known for his lavish spending. It was not a surprise that he too would buy his own private island. What was surprising was which island he bought. Living up to his lavish lifestyle, it is reported that the tech billionaire paid somewhere around $500 to $600 million to own 98% of the 141-square-mile Lanai island resort. The island is already a famous vacation place in Hawaii and it is expected that the billionaire would develop the island further sometime in the future.
