If you were the type of child who dreamed of becoming a real-life princess and living a fairy-tale life in her own castle, this could be the chance to make your own childhood dream come true. Welcome to one of the most fantastic and magical places on Earth. No, we’re not talking about Disneyland, the world-famous amusement park located in Orlando, Florida. But it could be quite close to it, as it resembles its castle-like structure. The Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany is something that will evoke childhood memories of a princesses, blood red apples, dwarves, and wicked witches.
Neuschwanstein Castle, which translates to “New Swanstone Castle” in English, is a world-famous tourist destination in Germany, Europe. It attracts over one million visitors each year and has even made appearances in classic films like The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It also served as the model for the castle in Sleeping Beauty, the classic Disney movie.
The design for the castle was conceptualized and drafted by designer Christian Jank, and its construction was supervised by architect Eduard Riedel. Sitting quite prettily on the ridge of a cliff, the majestic castle boasts a bower, a gatehouse, and a knight’s house. It also has an indoor grotto, a singer’s hall, a suite, and its every own throne room. For a time, the castle served as the retreat of Ludwig II of Bavaria. When the latter died in 1886, it became open to the public.
