If you feel that today’s cartoons are not on the same level as before, you are not alone. Programming has undergone many changes in the past ten years and it has created weird shows now that are in a class all their own.
Before, the creepy, odd, and offbeat story lines were daily after school occurrences. These shows helped shape the sense of humor of adults today.
So, take a look at the old shows you used to watch as a child. Log off social media for a few minutes and sit back and relax for the top ten weirdest cartoons of the 1990s.
Rocko’s Modern Life
Sounds like it could be anyone’s life, doesn’t it? Rocko is an eternal optimist and he has two best friends, Heffer and Filburt. With these two by his side, he can overcome whatever obstacle he comes across.
Freaky Stories
They tell quite disturbing stories like the one about a girl who is home alone and gets scared because she hears strange noises. She decides not to investigate because she is comforted by her dog licking her hand. In the morning she finds a note that reads “humans can lick, too”.
That’s the level of scariness in the stories that they tell. That’s enough to scare any ten-year-old.
Cow and Chicken
Only in a child’s mind would this set of characters make sense.
BeetleJuice
As a child watching this, you want to pull pranks and scare as many people as you can. As a grownup, it will make you want to watch the movie.
The Ren & Stimpy Show
The show was later renamed Ren & Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon. This allowed creators to stop censoring religion, politics, and alcohol in the show.
There were many sexual jokes in several episodes. For people who enjoy satire, they will enjoy reminiscing with this series.

Freakazoid
This show has a weirdo being celebrated as a hero which is very unorthodox. Freakazoid is an oddball but he totally embraces it. He is snarky and strange, but extremely funny. This is about appreciating and celebrating your true self, even if you are a freak.
Stressed Eric
This is a show that kids would try to secretly watch. Eric hates everything about his life and has two kids he doesn’t really take care of. The throbbing vein on his head is a big feature in each episode.
Veggie Tales
Bump in the Night
Having an alien-like monster in your bed and your toys coming to life at night is quite a strange basis for a show. That’s what they present to viewers.
