Shipwreck Cove – One of the Most Beautiful Places on the Planet

The Shipwreck Cove on Zakynthos Island, Greece, is undeniably among the most beautiful places on Earth. It got its name in 1983, after a smuggler ship called Panagiotis, was destroyed on the beach while transporting cigarettes.

Located in the Municipality of Elation, the area boasts sheer limestone cliffs, clear blue waters, and white sand beaches that attract thousands of tourists every year, probably the reason it is hailed as among the most beautiful places on the planet.

This place is accessible only be a boat. Tourists have to take regular tours to Navagio beach, departing from Porto Vromi to the South or from Agios Nikolaos and Cape Skinari to the northeast. All tours then dock at Zakynthos city.

Recently, this well-supplied fortress was used as a location for the popular film series, Pirates of the Caribbean. It was called, Shipwreck City, one of the safe places used by the pirates in the movie.
