Samantha and Bob Thomas are avid fans of the Despicable Me films. For that reason, they decided to incorporate their favorite yellow characters into their special day. From the decorations to the cakes, the adorable yellow Minions can be seen in every corner of the venue.

If you think their Minion craze ends there, then you are wrong. Guests were provided with Minion masks to wear to the reception. Additionally, a Minion mascot was hired to greet everyone who attended, as well as the couple, as soon as they arrive at the venue—the Chequers Hotel, Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria.

Because even the bridesmaids were asked to wear dresses inspired by the tiny yellow characters, Samantha said, “It was absolutely bonkers. It was out-of-this-world. We had guests saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to by a mile—that’s what we did it for. We had two Minions break-dancing on the dance floor.”

“It was absolutely hilarious. It’s had 1,700 views on Facebook, it’s just crazy. The day just flowed. There wasn’t a lull. It was so special,” she added.
On their wedding day, the couple realized they went out of control. They realized they used yellow- and blue-colored confetti, balloons, table decors, and cards. They also thought they had chosen a bridal car that came with an attached Minion teddy.

Still, there were no regrets. According to Bob, they agreed to have an eccentric theme as it matches their fun-loving personalities. In fact, he even shared that he had his leg inked with a Minion bride-and-groom caricature right before the wedding.

He explained, “The films are great, and we thought, why not. We wanted it to be different.”

Because the whole theme for the event sounded quite childish, Samantha revealed there were guests who were hesitant about attending their wedding. But eventually, they showed up and expressed their happiness for the couple.
“The guests absolutely went with it. Everybody was wearing yellow ties and yellow flowers. It got everybody together, and everybody got into the spirit of it,” she said. “We couldn’t have asked for a better day.”
