Reaching the age of 100 seems impossible these days, but when you do, you are considered to have achieved a major milestone in your life. And apparently, a woman from Quad City, who is about to reach that age, seems to be spending most of her years helping children from different parts of the world.
Along with the group called “Little Dresses for Africa”, Lillian Weber spent three-and-a-half years of her life, creating simple dresses and putting her own touches.
Lillian makes hundreds of dresses stitch-by-stitch, with an aim of making the 1,000th dress on her 100th birthday. On March 12, 2015, she was able to reach her goal, which was ahead of her set deadline.
According to her daughters, Lillian works on the dresses as part of her daily routine. She does it properly because she wants to ensure that the little girls who wear them are comfortable and happy.
Apparently, the dresses she makes help young girls, but her act is posing a message to all. She said, “Nine times out of ten, they always say, ‘Well, old people don’t do anything’, but they do”.
Before the milestone was reached, Lillian revealed her plan. She said, “And as soon as I get this one done, I’ll probably go to the next one”.
Lillian has been helping make dresses for the group. According to Rachel O’Neill, the founder, they have gained a lot of attention since she joined.
