Julia Gnuse is The World’s Most Tattooed Woman

Fifty five year old California native Julia Gnuse has earned the nickname the “Illustrated Lady” with a very good reason.

Gnuse currently holds the world record for the Most Tattooed Woman in the world. Tattoos that ranged from jungle scenes, cartoons to images of her favorite actors cover 95% percent of body. How she came about inking herself first came out when she was diagnosed with the skin condition called porphryia.

This skin condition causes the skin the blister when exposed to sunlight.Gnuse initially sought to cover the scars by having a plastic surgeon tattoo the skin the same color as the scar.

“I had a friend who is a plastic surgeon, who suggested tattooing my skin the same color to the scarring that I had, seeing if we can match my just pale-looking skin that I had. That didn’t work. We tried it. It was very difficult to match that. So I had the idea of a colorful tattoo, then I got hooked. I got addicted.”

Gnsue shares the idea that eventually led her to cover her entire body with tattoos.

“I did this for the reason of covering scarring from the blisters. They get as deep as three degree burn,” the Couriermail quoted her, as saying.”

The California native had the option of medication to treat her scars but opted for the tattoo instead. She explains that although the medication will help, it will increase her chances of becoming blind. Surprisingly, all the tattoos that cover her body were made by the same tattoo artist which she never publicly revealed.
