At one point in our lives, we all probably dreamed of becoming a fireman someday. Not only did we imagine ourselves getting to wear cool outfits, we also wanted to become heroes in our own right. However, we suddenly come up with the realization that being a fireman entails great responsibility. You later found out that it is more than just wearing cool uniform, nor is it about the idea of being on the news and being hailed as a hero. In order to save lives, one has to go really, really close to the fire, which is quite dangerous.
But if you really want to be inspired and push through with your dream of becoming a fireman, you might want to get a glimpse of what it is like to work as a firefighter. You can watch this fearless video released by the San Bernardino County Fire Department, wherein a fireman from Victorville, California, attached a camera to his helmet, for us to see his actions during a fire incident in a single-story home.
According to the Fire Department, “An aggressive coordinated attack with hose lines and vertical ventilation was launched, with the fire stopped in 30 minutes.”
In the footage, the fireman is seen climbing up the roof and chainsawing the ventilation area, so that smoke can escape. This way, an inside search can be easily conducted. Obviously, he got up close and personal with the fire. Luckily, there was nobody inside, except a large dog, who was rescued and was later reunited with his owners.
