Due to the ever-growing demand of pork in Asia, scientists have experimented with doubling the muscle mass of pigs in order to acquire more lean meat. They modified the genetic structure of the pigs in order to manipulate the myostatin reproduction. This method actually saves time since scientists don’t have to resort to selective breeding.
However, there are issues lurking around this practice since it turned out that the pigs who didn’t undergo any genetic modification are healthier than the ones who did.
