Black Burgers Sold at Japan’s Burger King Restaurant

Everybody knows that Japan is great at creating cute and colorful food. However, it turns out that they too are up for creating dishes that look strange and odd. Japan’s Burger King just decided to add a little spice to the boring traditional burger by making them black.

The so-called “Kuro Diamond” and “Kuro Pearl Burgers” look different from any other burgers. And they owe their striking appearance to the black bun, the black garlic sauce, and the black cheese.

Basically, the bun and the cheese use bamboo charcoal for coloring. The garlic sauce, on the other hand, uses squid ink. These two ingredients are frequently used in Japan as food additives.

Black hamburgers are sold at a Burger King restaurant in Tokyo, Japan since September 18, 2014.
