Our civilization has plunged into a more modern one due to the brilliant architectural minds that built and transformed our way of living. From small houses to buildings, they convert their concepts and ideas into a concrete and tangible form.

Some of these have pioneered and paved the way of our living today, and now, we will be listing six of the greatest modern architects of our time.

This amazing architect never formally attended any architecture school, yet some Frank Lloyd Wright was considered to be the greatest architecture of ages. Under the tutelage of another legend of architecture, Louis Sullivan, Wright specialized in interior and exterior designs that incorporate organic and natural forms to his works to compliment the environment. His innovative detailing of prairie-style buildings are still considered to be the best architectural feats, even after nearly 150 years.

Some of his notable projects are The Guggenheim Museum, Fallingwater Residence, Arizona State University Gammage Auditorium, and Taliesin West — Wright’s home in Scottdale, Arizona.

Zaha Hadid

Iraq-born Zaha Hadid was the first woman to ever win the Pritzker Architecture prize for her daring and artistic designs on her buildings. Ranked as Forbes 69th most powerful woman in 2008, Hadid also took a futuristic and unconventional approach to her work.

Some of her renowned projects are the National Museum of the 21st Century Arts (also known as MAXXI), the Bridge Pavilion in Zaragosa, the Bergisel Ski Jump in Innsbruck, the Phaeno Science Center, and the Opera House in Guangzhou.

Named as one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2008, this Italian-born architect is also a Pritzker prize winner for having a distinct style that shaped modern architecture. Piano is well-known for his architectural design of Europe’s tallest skyscraper in London, The Shard. Despite the controversies that it has faced during construction, The Shard was still recognized as one of the marvelous architectural feat that contributed a 21st-century-style to London.

In his younger years, he worked with the famed architect Louis Kahn.

Other of his building designs were the NEMO Science Center in Amsterdam, The New York Times Building in New York, and the Kansai international Airport in Osaka, Japan.

Safdie also underwent as the apprentice of Louis Kahn. From that foundation, he built his career in architecture, and today, Safdie is one of the most recognizable architects worldwide.

His works, such as the 1967 international and Universal Exposition (more commonly known as Expo 67), the National Gallery of Canada, Habitat 67 in Montreal, and the Khalsa Heritage Memorial in Punjab, India, were some of the world’s most illustrious buildings.

Gehry was famous for his architecture that defies the logic and makes the somewhat impossible into reality. He has the ability to manipulate the forms and spaces into something unimaginable. That is why tourists all over the world marvel at his out-of-this-world designs.

Examples of his feats are The Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Der Neue Zollhof in Düseldorf, and the Marqués de  Riscal  Vineyard Hotel in Elciego.
