Summer is here, and so are mosquitoes! And who would like to be itching all over because of the mosquito bites? Here are some easy remedies that can soothe the skin irritation. The good news is that they are homemade. So before they bite, it’s best that you know how to prepare at least one or two of these helpful remedies.
1. Basil
Basil leaves contain camphor that creates a cooling feeling that’s similar to the menthol we have in our toothpastes. Simply crush up some leaves and place them directly on the bite.
2. Essential oils
Essential oils like tea tree, lavender, and coconut oil have properties that can relieve itching, swelling, and pain. They work wonders for mosquito bites. Tea tree is antibacterial so aside from calming the itch, it will also prevent infection.
3. Toothpaste
With a pea-sized paste, apply directly to the bite and feel the minty freshness relieving the itch.
4. Banana
To relieve itch and restore comfort, rub the inside of a banana peel on the bite.
5. Scotch tape
Well, it actually doesn’t heal the itch. Rather, it prevents you from scratching the itchy part of your skin, preventing risks of infection.
6. Garlic
Mince some garlic and apply it to the affected area. Leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off.
7. Ice
Shock the bite with something cold and stop the itching. Ice is a natural nerve-number that conducts itching or pain so you can’t feel the itch.
8. Honey
Honey is a natural antibiotic so drop some onto the itching part, and they’ll be gone in a few minutes.
9. Baking soda
Make a paste by mixing soda and warm water then apply it to the bite. Leave it on for a few minutes and rinse off.
10. Aspirin
Crush some Aspirin tablets and mix them into a paste with water. Apply to the affected area.
11. Alcohol
Alcohol or any clear liquor can soothe the itch with its cooling effect.
12. Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has antibacterial qualities and can calm itching.
